You'll need a visa before you go
You need a UK Standard Visitor visa. Apply online, visit a visa centre for fingerprints, and get a digital eVisa.

What you need to know

•
India isn't eligible for the UK ETA, so you need a Standard Visitor visa.
•
Apply online, then go to a visa application centre to give your fingerprints and photo and show your documents. You get your passport back the same day.
•
Apply up to 3 months before you travel. You usually get a decision within 3 weeks.
•
The fee is £135 for up to 6 months. If you visit often, 2, 5 and 10-year visas are available, but each visit is still 6 months max.
•
Since 1 July 2026, successful applicants get a digital eVisa instead of a sticker. Sign in to your UKVI account to check it before you travel.
•
You can holiday, visit family and friends, do some business activities or take short courses. You can't work or claim benefits.
•
You must show you'll leave at the end of your visit and can pay for your trip and your journey home.
