Do Indian passport holders need a visa for New Zealand?

Yes, after applying for an eVisa online
Indian passport holders need a New Zealand Visitor Visa. You apply online and get an eVisa.

What you need to know

•
India isn't a visa waiver country, so you can't use an NZeTA for a normal trip. Cruise ship passengers are the exception and can use an NZeTA.
•
Apply online. From 1 October 2026, paper applications aren't accepted.
•
The fee starts at NZD $441. 80% of applications are decided within 2 weeks. September to March is busiest, so apply early.
•
A multiple-entry visa lets you stay up to 6 months in any 12 months. A single-entry visa lets you stay up to 9 months in 18 months.
•
You can holiday, visit family and friends, and study for up to 3 months. You can't work, except remote work for an overseas business.
•
You need at least NZD $1,000 per month (NZD $400 if your accommodation is prepaid), or an acceptable sponsor.
•
Don't book non-refundable travel until your visa is approved.
•
Your visa conditions are recorded in your eVisa.
