Indian passport holders need a Canadian visitor visa. You apply online, give biometrics, and the visa is placed in your passport.
What you need to know
•
India isn't eligible for an eTA, even if you fly. You need a visitor visa.
•
Apply online in the IRCC Portal. Paper applications are only for people who can't apply online.
•
Unless you are exempt (for example, under 14 or over 79), you must give fingerprints and a photo (biometrics) at a collection point after you apply.
•
Fees: CAN$100 for the visa plus CAN$85 for biometrics, per person.
•
Most applications are decided in a few weeks or less. You may be asked for an interview, a medical exam or a police certificate.
•
If approved, you send your passport so the visa can be put in it. You can't travel until that's done.
•
Most visitors can stay up to 6 months. The border officer may give you less or more time, and may stamp your passport or give you a visitor record.
•
You must be in good health, have no criminal or immigration convictions, have enough money, and convince an officer you'll go home.
