Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Australia?

Yes, after applying for an eVisa online
Indian passport holders need an Australian Visitor visa (subclass 600). You apply online and it's linked to your passport digitally.

What you need to know

•
India isn't eligible for the ETA or eVisitor, so apply for the Visitor visa (subclass 600) Tourist stream.
•
Apply online in ImmiAccount while you're outside Australia. You must stay outside Australia until a decision is made.
•
No label goes in your passport. The visa is linked to your passport digitally.
•
Length of stay is set case by case. It's usually 3 months, but can be up to 12 months.
•
You can holiday, cruise and visit family or friends. You can study for up to 3 months, but you can't work.
•
You may be asked to give biometrics, have health checks or provide a police certificate.
•
Don't make travel plans until you get written confirmation that your visa is granted.
•
You pay your own medical costs in Australia, so health insurance is strongly recommended.

Documents to bring

•
Valid passport (pages with your photo, details, and issue and expiry dates)
•
National identity card, if you have one
•
Proof of enough money (for example, 3 months of bank statements, pay slips or tax records)
•

•
Invitation letter from family or friends in Australia, if you're visiting them
•
